Portraits | Sneak Peek – Chavez

November 28th, 2011

Hello all! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. My fiance and I kicked it back at home with his siblings and enjoyed a intimate night together. After our late lunch, we watched Twilight: Breaking Dawn. I’ll refrain from discussing details of the movie or spoil it for those who have not seen it yet. On another note, it’s been a few weeks since my last post.. and well, I have news for you. I shot my first portrait session in months! What a way to commemorate this holiday season! You know what that means? I’m accepting bookings! I’m very limited with space and in transition with rebranding as well. Contact me at turtleexpressions@gmail.com for details. I will save my final Chavez post for when I finish editing the entire set, for now, this will do.

Happy Holidays all! I am ecstatic about being behind the camera again! God bless!

Until next time,

Staycation | Palm Springs

November 15th, 2011

I’m curious to know, who embraces this idea of a “staycation”? I often hear of it, an inexpensive way to vacation where you currently are. Although hubby and I had to drive two hours and thirty minutes to get to Palm Springs, I don’t really consider that far enough away from home to be a real “vacation”. In a recent post, I mentioned that my fiance and I just hit the six year mark. However, since I was so caught up with midterms and all that good stuff (at the time), we had to postpone our Anniversary plans. In fact, we didn’t even celebrate Halloween. Poor thing, Charlie stayed home that whole weekend while I studied that entire weekend. It was definitely no fun but at least we got to have a Sweet November.

Any Grouponers in the house? I know I am. And if you’re like me, you know a good deal when you see one.. and when I see a good deal, I buy it! So we found a great deal on Groupon for La Quinta Resort & Club, located a few miles southeast of Palm Springs and I should add that it is a gorgeous resort. When I say gorgeous, I mean the back side of the resort is a golf course surrounded by mountains, palm trees everywhere – you see where I’m going with this right?

Since my iPhone 4 pictures won’t do justice, I found a few more amazing pictures online just for you:

This is the main entrance to the resort.

Our hotel room didn’t look exactly like this one. Our room had a King size bed, fireplace, and immaculate bathroom.

Gorgeous or what?

For more breathtaking photos, click here. The resort is just gorgeous yeah? Our Groupon deal came with a spa package which we unfortunately weren’t able to take advantage like we planned. We checked in after it closed and checked out before it opened. Sigh. Moving on, so what are the three things you learned? 1. What “staycation” means (if you didn’t already know and I’m sure there’s a better definition out there), 2. Groupon is a great source for steal deals, and 3. La Quinta Resort in Palm Springs is serene!

I forgot to add that we had a fireplace in our hotel room which I was ecstatic about! I wish we had hot chocolate or marshmallows to go with. We could have sat by that fire and told stories all night. Would we go back to La Quinta? You bet!

That’s all for now!

Until next time,

DIY | Craft Inspiration on Pinterest

November 11th, 2011

Pinterest. I would actually be shocked if you are clueless about this online and growing community. I don’t feel an explanation would suffice, Pinterest to me is.. an experience. I can easily say you create an account, type in keywords and pin pictures onto virtual boards but really, does that make you feel like you need to create an account NOW? Didn’t think so. I do think that Pinterest is tailored more for people who are seeking inspiration of some sort. Relevant to this post, I have been inspired by DIY projects found on Pinterest. With the upcoming holiday season quickly approaching, I have been truly inspired to get creative this Christmas. I will be creating my first ever ornament wreath as well as a few ornaments for our first FRESH Christmas tree together. Here are a few pictures that inspire me.

Need some creative event themes/prop ideas? Pinterest! Want to try a new recipe? Pinterest! Models: Need posing ideas? Pinterest! Do you see where I’m going? I sure hope so. And if you do see where I am going, I suggest you find me on there too: http://pinterest.com/jmtc_turtle/.

That is all for now folks!
